Your Second Month

Baby Blake/Blakey/Blaker/B-man,

This month was FULL of firsts for you! You are growing so quickly, your mom and dad hardly remember already what it was like having you so tiny in our arms :) Although you have your 2 month check up on Tuesday (I'm writing this on Sunday), we went to the doctor last week for what I thought might have been thrush and you already weighted 13lbs, 15oz!! Big boy! We couldn't be prouder of the little man you are already becoming!

Look at the list of all of the first things you've done this month!

* You started SMILING! It just melts my heart when you wake up in the morning with a big grin on your face :) I can't wait to hear you laugh!
* You found your thumb!!! Most days you won't let go of your tight fist to suck on your thumb, so you end up sucking on your entire fist :) Mommy was changing your diaper one morning at Gigi & Daddy Dave's and this is what I saw!

* You had your first big road trip all the way to Virginia! That means you've already visited 8 states in these short 2 months of your life! Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Virginia! You were reallllly good driving out there as you were only a measly 5 weeks old, but on the way back you wanted NOTHING to do with that car seat! We'll fill you in on that trip when you get older...it was DEFINITELY an adventure for your parents :)

* You met some of the best people in your life for the first time! Gigi (your dad's Mamma), DD (short for Daddy Dave, your Dad's Daddy), and D (short for Derek, your Dad's brother)! We are just TERRIBLE parents and took very few pictures of you with them...WHAT were we thinking?? Don't worry though, they will be out here again when you turn 3 months and we'll be sure to get several then! You also met all of your Daddy's extended family... Grandma Peggy, Pop Thompson, Aunt Bernie, Aunt Annette & Uncle David, Aunt Pam and Uncle Chuck and they ALL said "Look at that HA-IR" ( it is pronounced in 2 syllables in the south HA!)

* You stayed away from Mommy and Daddy for the longest since you were born...we knew you were in good hands with Gigi & Daddy Dave, but it was hard being away from you for 3 whole days!

* You visited the beach for the first time ever! You LOVED the ocean breeze and slept on the lounge chair the entire time we were out there. I loved your little red, white and blue swim trunks :)

* You began sleeping on your stomache...who knew thats how you loved to sleep the most?!

* You went to your very first concert, the Heartbeat band out at Southlands...mommy and daddy will probably go there for years to come (it's cheap entertainment...you'll understand that some day).

You are growing up just so quickly and I'm glad that we will have this to look back on someday to reflect on just how little you were even though you already seem so big to us. You are chuggin along in your growth (look, you're about the same size as your buddy Bricyn (neighbor) and he is 2 months older than you! I'm sure you will be outgrowing this carrier soon too, or at least mommy carrying you!

We love you to the moon and back!

Your Very First Month

My baby Blake... we anticipated you for 9 months and knew our life was about to change greatly, but we never knew just how much.

You have taught us patience, laughter, humility, and most importantly a love that we NEVER knew we could feel. Your dad and I often look at you and ask ourselves how we were so lucky that you came into our lives and we often say how you are our best accomplishment so far.

We look at you and can't wait to see the adorable child you will grow into...the personality you will have... the man that you will be when you "grow up".

If you could understand right now, the one thing we would tell you is to cherish every moment of this wonderful life you have in front of you. I look back in just a short month of your life and I can't even believe how quickly you are growing up... I see brighter eyes, more personality, a bigger body (of course!), and the way you are starting to smile. It quickly reminds me to cherish every second that I get to spend with you, even if you are screaming at 2am because you think the world might end if you don't get a bottle, because you are quickly growing up in the blink of an eye and I don't want to miss a moment!

Love you more than life itself dear Blake! Can't wait to see what comes in the next month!

In case time goes way too quickly, here are a few pictures of where you've been in this short month of your life...

Love, Mom

The moment we first met...

It was love at first sight!

You had the longest fingers and piggies

Dad was so proud to call you his...you still sleep with him like this now:)

You will always be such a cute little monster to us!

Your very first mail...
don't worry too much about this when you get older,
it might not even be around then :)

Your big dog-sister, Wendybird.
She too was in love with you at first sight...
she follows you around wherever you go and checks on you at night in your crib.

Your first month-birthday! May 10th, 2012!

We will see just how big you get next to this little calendar your first year!

Two Weeks Already??

I hear mothers say ALL the time, "cherish every moment because it goes way too fast", and man are they right! I can't believe he is already 14 days/2 weeks/one half of a month old!? How can that be?? It was just yesterday that we were the completely inexperienced parents (trust me, we're definitely not professionals now!) holding a little 8lb miracle!

As you all were aware of our first week fiasco, as we'll call it, the second week has seemed to go by somewhat better and less eventful. Although our sleep is still very much deprived, we're enjoying spending more and more time with "awake Blake" :) It is fun seeing him learn to look at things... supposedly he can only see things anywhere from 12-18 inches from his face :) This makes feeding time so much fun! While this is a lot of fun...he is definitely a growing boy! He is already at 4 ounces per feeding (every 3 hours) and as of lately sometimes we'll think 4 ounces is enough and then an hour later he is STILL hungry! I think we may have a monster on our hands that is definitely going to give us a run for our money :)

Not too many stories of interest in the last week other than his belly button falling off! When we went to his little check up, it wasn't looking like it was coming off anytime soon. So the PA went ahead and put a drying agent on it to assist in it falling off.

The very next night, it was D's turn for the 4am feeding... he comes rushing into our room as I'm TRYING to catch what few Z's I can... and he says "babe! what do I do with his belly button??" Thinking to myself..."nothing... you just leave it till it falls off now let me sleep!!"

When I got into the room he pulls away his little sleeper on his leg and there lies the "belly button" HAHA! he says "no...like what do I do with this?!" I quickly grabbed a wipe on the changing table... picked it up off of little Blake's tiny leg, and tossed it in the trash. He looks at me like "how am I supposed to know what to do!?" haha Not that I know what to do at all either... but it definitely cracks me up how D gets caught up in these little small things. Lets just say that we are NOT keeping the belly button for his shadow box of "firsts"!

Happy 2 week birthday sweet little lion!
