Month Four ~ Well Traveled Little Man

Blake (aka Peanut, Bubba, Buddy, Blakey),

You're mom is TOTAL slacker and well month four came a bit later than it should have :) I am officially 16 days past your 4 month birthday. You will have to forgive me as we have started a WHOLE new routine and still trying to squeeze all the things I'd like to do in, while working full time, and trying to run our household. Unfortunately, it was your little blog that was put on hold this month. I promise to be a little more punctual next month!

Looking back at your fourth month as a little man, you did SO much! There are new firsts all over the place.

Check out that ha-ir (as they say in Virginia HA!) We had just given you a bath and then you fell asleep on your wet hair. HAHA

First of all, you are getting SO big!! You had your official 4 month checkup with nurse Kara Scholle and well you are still a growing boy, which is good! You were a whopping 16lbs 13oz! Definitely pushing that 17lb mark. The good news is you were in the 97th percentile at your 2 month appointment, but you have fallen back to the 90th percentile, which is OK! Don't worry...we're still feeding you like crazy and you're still spitting up like crazy :) You were 25.5 inches long (75th percentile). Needless to say you are doing just swell in the growth department!

The DAY before you turned exactly 4 months old you rolled over all on your own. It was pretty funny because we had been wanting to experience this milestone with you all along, and well your daddy was in the bathroom and totally missed it :) He was SO bummed, but you are a professional at it now and prefer looking around the room on your tummy! Now you wake up in your crib with your little turtle head looking around the room...it is the cutest (unfortunately I don't have any pictures of it...).
You even love to be on your tummy on Daddy's tummy HA!
We layed you on the floor to get your bottle ready... on your back and we turned around and here you were just chillin on your tummy :)

Mommy and Daddy definitely had our first this month. Mommy had to go back to work. I have to say that I literally had tears in my eyes driving the whole way to work. I was all choked up when I dropped you off, but managed to stay strong at miss Tobie's house, but the second I got back in the car I totally cried. I'm sure it was a mixture of things of course, but first off I didn't want to leave you...we had spent EVERY single day for 15 weeks together!! But at the same time I didn't want to go back to work either. I'm pretty sure some of those tears were for you and some were for me :) A dear friend sent me the cutest little bouquet of flowers on my first day back to cheer me up...it made my day. Thanks Cynthia!

You SMILE SMILE SMILE all the time! Everyone that ever holds you or spends time with you says how easy going you are. You don't cry when others hold you (yet), you always smile at everyone who says "he is SOOOO cute!!", and you really only cry when you want something (diaper changed, sleep, food). You are definitely becoming more playful! Daddy loves holding you above his head saying "SUPER BLAKEEEE" and you just think its hilarious!

Peepaw LOVES to get you to smile. This was at Lil Ricci's Pizzeria (best pizza in town!)

You took your first trip up to a 14er (a mountain over 14,000 feet, which there are a lot of in Colorado). We went up to Pikes Peak and well every sign told us not to go... we didn't have a half tank of gas in the car... the sign said not recommended for under 4 months (this was JUST before you turned 4 months old). Needless to say, we drove an hour to get there, so we just went ahead anyways. I think we got up to mile 7 of the trail and you were crying because your ears hurt from the altitude...terrible parents! Not to mention we were worried about running out of gas. So we turned around and drove back home. Unsuccessful trip, but we'll go some other time!

This was the view from the entrance to Pikes Peak. There was recently the most destructive fire in Colorado just across from the entrance, you can see all the burned trees.
You finally went to the pool for the first time and you loved it!! Of course it was a small part of you in the water but you loved it. We've also taken you out of the bath seat during bath time and you just splish splash all over the place. It is definitely quite comical :)

Overall, month four was very entertaining for both Mommy and Daddy and we hope for you. Every time we look at you, you just seem to get bigger and bigger!

Love you to the moon and back little Peanut! Happy 4 month Birthday!!

(I couldn't pick just one picture for your 4 month birthday photo shoot, so I put a few up. They are all just too cute!!)

Month Three ~ All Smiles!

Bubba (that is your newest nickname from Daddy and me),

It never gets old, but really, you are growing WAY too fast!! We had your 2 month appointment just after your 2 month birthday and you were already a whopping 14.3 lbs! You were in the 95th percentile for weight and at 23.25 in, you were in the 80th percentile for length. What REALLY surprised us is that as big as your daddy's noggin (head) is, yours isn't bigger, as you were in the 50th percentile for your head circumference. Maybe you got your mommy's smaller head and more compact and smarter brain huh?? :) With that said, who KNOWS where you are at on your big 3 month birthday. It is funny because when your daddy talks about you to friends he refers to your age as a "12 week-year old. HA! Cracks me up every time!

You had LOTS of firsts again this month... you just learn so much every day and with every day I feel like you are growing up more and more when we look at you. Your dad can never get enough smiles out of you and giggles every time you smile at him.

You constantly kick, kick, kick! You're going to be a mover and a shaker son :) You LOVE your tummy play mat as you can now reach the toys and grip them with your hands. You even like to eat them. I have a feeling some of those little teefers are not too far ahead!
This was what I came home to on my first night out with the ladies. Daddy was in charge of bath night and this is what your hair ended up as :) LOVE this picture of you little man!

You are starting to actually LAUGH! Sometimes I'm rocking you to sleep and you look up at me with that big smile that melts my heart and I can't help but giggle at you, but what makes me REALLY laugh is when you start giggling back. I guess me laughing uncontrollably and shaking at you laughing at me, makes you laugh more :) PS...this definitely makes it harder to quiet you down for bedtime :)

You are officially on a "schedule"! Although, I'm sure this will change soon, you are sleeping 8-9 hours through the night! Typically, you take a long 3-4 hour nap in the early afternoon, but only cat nap in the mornings. I guess you feel like you're going to miss something if you close your eyes after having  slept for 8 hours already :)

You went to your first camping trip!! Mommy and Daddy are crazy and bought a new camper trailer...really this was all for you buddy :) Our thinking was that it would be easier to camp with you in it, now it is essentially a second home. You will be doing LOTS of camping trips in this thing. Funny thing though, the ONLY the we forgot on our entire trip was your pack n' play. We had to have you sleep in bed with us!

You made it through your very first July 4th!! America's birthday! You will learn that daddy is very passionate about this holiday :) We went to your buddy Jimmy's house (he is a month and a half older than you!) and hung out with the neighbors. You were stylin in all 2 of your July 4th outfits... mommy even had you try on your sweet sunglasses aunt Sarah got you :) You also played with your other neighbor buddy, Bricyn! I have a feeling you all will grown up to be friends!

You're holding your head up more now! You're like a little "turtle" as Gigi says :) She has been trying to teach you to roll over each day since they've come to visit you for your 3rd month birthday. You sure love your grandparents! By holding your head up more, you are learning to use your legs more and can stand up when being held! You are also learning to sit up in your "dumbo" chair as I call it (it's actually bumbo, but as you can see by the look on your face that is where the nickname comes from HA!).

I'm sure there are MANY many more firsts that you are up to, but these are a few to name. Hope you look back on these some day and see how cute you were! Everyone says you are SUCH a happy baby and that you are just adorable...not to mention that smile melts EVERYONES hearts! Can't wait to see the road ahead, but definitely cherishing the time now as I know how quickly it is going. Mommy will be back to work by your 4th birthday and it kills me to think that all this precious time spent with you each day will be over...well at least the large amounts of time.

Love you to pieces Bubba! Happy 13 week-year old birthday! (aka 3 months!!)

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

Your Second Month

Baby Blake/Blakey/Blaker/B-man,

This month was FULL of firsts for you! You are growing so quickly, your mom and dad hardly remember already what it was like having you so tiny in our arms :) Although you have your 2 month check up on Tuesday (I'm writing this on Sunday), we went to the doctor last week for what I thought might have been thrush and you already weighted 13lbs, 15oz!! Big boy! We couldn't be prouder of the little man you are already becoming!

Look at the list of all of the first things you've done this month!

* You started SMILING! It just melts my heart when you wake up in the morning with a big grin on your face :) I can't wait to hear you laugh!
* You found your thumb!!! Most days you won't let go of your tight fist to suck on your thumb, so you end up sucking on your entire fist :) Mommy was changing your diaper one morning at Gigi & Daddy Dave's and this is what I saw!

* You had your first big road trip all the way to Virginia! That means you've already visited 8 states in these short 2 months of your life! Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Virginia! You were reallllly good driving out there as you were only a measly 5 weeks old, but on the way back you wanted NOTHING to do with that car seat! We'll fill you in on that trip when you get older...it was DEFINITELY an adventure for your parents :)

* You met some of the best people in your life for the first time! Gigi (your dad's Mamma), DD (short for Daddy Dave, your Dad's Daddy), and D (short for Derek, your Dad's brother)! We are just TERRIBLE parents and took very few pictures of you with them...WHAT were we thinking?? Don't worry though, they will be out here again when you turn 3 months and we'll be sure to get several then! You also met all of your Daddy's extended family... Grandma Peggy, Pop Thompson, Aunt Bernie, Aunt Annette & Uncle David, Aunt Pam and Uncle Chuck and they ALL said "Look at that HA-IR" ( it is pronounced in 2 syllables in the south HA!)

* You stayed away from Mommy and Daddy for the longest since you were born...we knew you were in good hands with Gigi & Daddy Dave, but it was hard being away from you for 3 whole days!

* You visited the beach for the first time ever! You LOVED the ocean breeze and slept on the lounge chair the entire time we were out there. I loved your little red, white and blue swim trunks :)

* You began sleeping on your stomache...who knew thats how you loved to sleep the most?!

* You went to your very first concert, the Heartbeat band out at Southlands...mommy and daddy will probably go there for years to come (it's cheap entertainment...you'll understand that some day).

You are growing up just so quickly and I'm glad that we will have this to look back on someday to reflect on just how little you were even though you already seem so big to us. You are chuggin along in your growth (look, you're about the same size as your buddy Bricyn (neighbor) and he is 2 months older than you! I'm sure you will be outgrowing this carrier soon too, or at least mommy carrying you!

We love you to the moon and back!
Mommy & Daddy
